BEGINNING OF LABOR: When did you realize you were in labor and how did labor begin? Did labor start earlier or later than you expected? How did the timing affect your feelings leading up to your baby's birthday? What time of year was it? What was the weather like? Did it have any effect on the day?

LABOR: What did contractions feel like? Were they what you expected? What thoughts went through your head as you progressed through labor? Did you surprise yourself in any way as you dealt with the circumstances? What did you do to prepare for labor and birth? Did it help?

LABOR MOMENTS: Who attended your birth? Did they say or do anything during labor that helped you focus? Were there any humorous moments in labor? How long did you labor?

BIRTH SUMMARY: Please give a brief synopsis of your birth. What were the high and low points that stick out to you?

BIRTH: How long did you push? Were there any complications with your delivery? If your baby was born via c-section, what was the surgery like? Did you feel prepared for what you experienced? What did the operating room look like? What could you see and feel?

BIRTH REACTIONS: What was the first thing you said when you saw your baby for the first time? What were your feelings as you held your baby for the first time? What were your immediate emotions about yourself and/or your baby after the birth? How did your partner react? How did siblings/other support members present react?

AFTER BIRTH: How was your birth experience different from what you imagined it to be? What was the best part about your birth experience? What did you not like about your birth experience, if anything? Did you learn anything about yourself through this experience?
